Our career started in Valle de Santa Inés, in the centre of the island of Fuerteventura, within the municipality of the Historic Ville of Betancuria, by the tentative opening of a restaurant with few employees, nowadays the so-called Restaurante Abuelo Alfredo.Thanks to Fermín Méndez’s eagerness, the small village bar became a cafeteria - restaurant with capacity to serve 500 people at a time in its wide dining halls. Fermín already had experience in gastronomy and catering and had gone across the whole Spanish territory with his business. With a clear idea of what he wanted, all the experience acquired and a lot of excitement, he decided to extend, promote and address towards tourism the small village bar, thus founding the restaurant ‘Abuelo Alfredo’ in Valle de Santa Inés in honour of his father’s teachings.
He has worked restlessly from Monday to Sunday to position himself in the tourist-gastronomic sector.
At present, the company has an average of 12 employees, who live in the small municipality of Betancuria. Restaurante Abuelo Alfredo has become one of the most refined eating places, where the quality of the regional product stands out and an average of 4000 diners monthly enjoy its excellent cooking. This faultless trajectory has been renowned by tour operators, such as TUI, Meeting Point, Itaka, Ibero Service and several travel agencies. Always working to improve, share and broaden knowledge and experience. For all that, the management board and the staff would like to thank the thousands of people who have trusted us to leave the organisation of their happy moments in our hands and shared them with everyone around, all in all making us possible to be here.
